Mental Health

We intimately understand the high levels of stress and mental health issues that many working-class families face due to financial instability, food insecurity, and the threat of eviction and homelessness.

One significant aspect of our involvement in mental health is in public schools, where we actively participate in community leadership through the English Learner Advisory Committees (ELAC) at both the school and district levels. This engagement allows us to advocate for the needs and concerns of English language learners, contributing to a more inclusive and supportive educational environment.

Another area of involvement is through "Historias Que Sanan," a collaborative project initiated by MV Solidarity Fund, Emotions in Harmony, and the Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation. Historias Que Sanan offers specific programs designed to support working-class Latino adults facing mental health challenges. The initiative launched a pilot project in the summer of 2022, involving over 30 community leaders who attended the City of Mountain View's Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy. Participants engaged in a three-month program facilitated by Emotions in Harmony, providing a supportive group environment where individuals shared healing stories, reduced isolation, and built community support networks.
